The Blessed Leaf cigar line has become some of the most popular cigars in the Ezra Zion repertoire! And for good reason; we put our heart and soul into every blend we do, but the Blessed Leaf releases always seems to have a little something extra. We like to think that the Boss upstairs gives it some extra mojo.
Blessed Leaf Ekklesia is a box-pressed short toro wrapped in a 9-year-old rustic Habano wrapper. Fillers are all vintage Nicaraguan tobaccos.
First light explodes on to the palate with big bold flavors of cream, and caramel. Those are followed closely by notes of leather, coffee bean, and toasted nuts. Retrohale is an aggressive black pepper spice.
An inch in, the creamy character comes to the fore. The spiciness settles into a beautiful cinnamon. The blend rounds out with Macadamia nuts and amoretto. A subtle clove note emerges on the finish.
Halfway, toffee flavors appear. Vanilla bean and custard begin to form adding to an already complex mix of goodness. It's mind-blowing!
The last third is euphoric! The smoke coats the tongue in an almost electric sensation. The flavors intensify. Additional notes of earth, dates (yes, dates), and milk chocolate join the mix. Phenomenal!
If Blessed Leaf Ekklesia doesn't win some award for 2017 then the whole award system is undoubtedly rigged. This blend has rocketed to our personal list of favorite cigars. A list that isn't very easy to get on as you can imagine!
