Art is often a snapshot of history as it happens. This past year, our beloved cigar industry has faced the most perilous times in it's existence. A range of emotions--from despair to anger--has been felt by cigar makers, retailers, and smokers alike.

We knew we needed to do a project that put us on record and made a statement for where Ezra Zion stands in this fight...

Live Free or Die!

Wrapped in a milk chocolate brown Habano wrapper, Live Free or Die is blended with 100% vintage Nicaraguan tobaccos. This is the stuff we've been storing and waiting on for just such an occasion. 

First light is a rush of coffee bean, black pepper and hickory wood. Crystallized honey sweetness coats the palate bringing a perfect balance. The finish is long with whipped buttercream taking center stage.

An inch in, the age of the tobacco becomes more prominent in the flavor profile--especially the retrohale. It's a richness and smoothness that all cigars aspire to, but only comes after many long years of bale aging.

Halfway, the pepper mellows into baking spices of clove, cardamom, and cinnamon. A smooth leathery backdrop is complimented by notes of caramel, anise, and Speyside scotch. 

The last third, an elegant cherry wood appears bringing both a heartiness and a sweetness to the blend. The scotch flavor grows stronger with occasional blasts of jalapeño and a huge buttery finish.

A 6x52 prensado box-pressed, Live Free or Die is rolled cuban style with a rough foot.
