Makin' Bacon Slab Cut
The Makin' Bacon projects make us to really push the envelope in blending.
Bacon is, after all, a meat that is both salty and sweet. It can be crispy, smokey, woody....too many flavors and styles to list here!
It inspires us to make the Makin' Bacon cigars the craziest and most complex blends that we possibly can!
Makin' Bacon Slab Cut is a full-bodied, med/full strength short toro with a Cuban pigtail cap and closed foot. The wrapper leaf is an experimental hybrid from Nicaragua that completely knocked our socks off! Fillers are VERY rare and will remain secret! (I'll only say that they're really old and really tasty!)
First light is a rush of toasty caramel! Leather, toasted nuts, and maple syrup flavors immediately follow. A nice cinnamon burn through the retrohale adds some spice to the overall smooth character of the blend.
As it progresses, the flavors grow larger. Vanilla, black coffee, and milk chocolate notes appear. The finish is a wave of creaminess that lingers long on the palate.
Halfway, the age of tobaccos begins to shine through. The coffee, cream, and chocolate flavors come to the fore, giving the blend gorgeous mocha flavors. A subtle "saltiness" akin to vintage Cuban tobacco appears. It's so good I'm speechless!
The last third is utterly phenomenal! Hazelnut and cashew begins to emerge. The retrohale gains strength adding a red pepper burn. The sweetness of caramel and maple become dominate again as the blend comes full circle.
The burn is perfect! The balance is perfect! It's just...PERFECT!
Makin' Bacon Slab Cut is NOT to be missed! I think the right word to describe how we feel about this cigar is "Obsessed"!
